Bavarian Costume Stein, hand-painted, pewter lid
The forerunner of what we know today as he "Bavarian Leather Pants" was the so-called "Cu-Lotte" in the 17th century. This were knee-length pants made of silk or leather for the nobility. The leather for the nobles was made of stag or deer, while the rural population made their leather from sheep or goats at that time. During the age of romatinicism and the return to old values accociated with it, the preservation of costumes was promoted more and more. In 1853, the Bavarian King Maximilian issued a decree on the "enhancement of national sentimel, especially national costumes". s the development over the year proves, leather pants shall not go out of fashion. As on that stein, the Lederhosen not only should, they MUST have patina. These include long-wearing heirlooms and trousers that are so stiff that they literarily can "stand up" by themselves. And only when the matte surface is greasy due to wear do the pants truly earn the name "Krachlederne". Since a few years, the classic leather pants have become the cult object of the younger generation in Bavaria again. As you can see, the leather pants do have a quite long tradition and have never gone ouut of fashion. And so are steins too. Keeping this in mind, it is just logical that there has to be a stein in the shape of a Lederhose. Use this stein to dress up a beer in a Bavarian Lederhose and enjoy! Leather pants stein, 0.75 liter Hand-painted,with Bavarian Crest decal fired into the stein, with a lid made of fine pewter Height: Approx. 8 3/4"

Maypole Stein, 2 Liters, stonegray, hand-painted, with pewter lid
The Maypole The origin of the maypole probably lies with the ancient Germanic tribes, worshipping various forest gods. In the course of the centuries, pagan customs were mixed with Christian ones. The current form of the maypole, a high trunk with a wreath, has been handed down since the 16th century. The setup of the maypole is often combined with a village or town festival, which usually takes place on April 30, May 1 or Pentecost. In Bavaria, the maypole is often elaborately decorated by wrapping the trunk in color, waving ribbons or even carvings. These can represent professions or hobbies. Depending on tradition, the maypole remains standing in the towns until the end of the month, but in some places also until autumn. The tall slender shape of the stein fits perfectly with the maypole theme, which is depicted in particularly deep relief and has been elaborately painted by hand. The maypole theme is framed by a heraldic relief. Below the tree is the lettering Bavaria with lateral national coat of arms and the diamond blue/white motif (Blue and white are Bavaria's national colors).
