2021 Masterpiece Beer Stein, Stone-Grey Décor
This stunning Limited Edition Stein is a true masterpiece of the steinmakers' art and is replicated from an historic original, currently held at the archives of King Werk in Hoehr-Grenzhausen, Germany.
It was sculpted around 1898 by an unknown msaer modelleur.
In German mythology the romantic rivers Rhine and Mosel are regarded as a happily married couple: Father Rhine and Mother Mosel. The confluencd of these wo rivers flowing into each ohter are depicted as their children.
Fahter Rhine and Mother Mosel flow into each other at te so-called "Deutsches Eck" (the German Corner) in the town of Koblenz.
At this very point in the year 1897 a monumental statue was erected, paying homage to German Emperor Wilhelm I of Prussia. This stein was created in honor of this event.
A 4-tiereed conical lid of genuine pewter ornately decorated in detailed raised relief crowns this beautful limited edition work of art.
This is the twenty-first of the KING-WERK annual materpiece editiions and is strictly limited to just 2,500 pieces worldwide.

This version has the so-called "stone-grey" finish: After cobalt glaze background has been applied onto the stein, the cobalt is removed with soft sponges and tissues from the raised areas. This way, the cobalt color only remains in the recessed areas.
The relief appears deeper than on the cobalt & hand-painted version.
There is no "better" version. It's simply a matter of personal taste. If you prefer the shiny version with cobalt background, then please order the other #2051-B-stein.
