Apostle Stein, 1 Liter, hand-painted, extra heavy pewter lid
Apostle stein, hand-painted, with a heavy ornamental pewter lid The first relief steins with apostle motifs were produced around 1620 in a similar manner. The motifs running around the jug depicts the individual holy apostles. This handmade apostle stein was produced around 1970 in Höhr-Grenzhausen in the Westerwald Region by a family business "Girmscheid". As such, this stein is also marked with "Handarbeit, Girmscheid" which translates to "Hand-Crafted, Girmscheid". The sein was fired twice. While the over-all stein finish is a so-called rustic finish, the Apostles and several ornaments have been highlighted by hand-painting. The lid as well as the thumb rest were also made on-site from pure pewter and cast onto the stein by hand. Height: Approximately 24 cm (9 ½“) Capacity: Approximately 1 liter
Gambrinus, 0.75 ltr., painted, crown lid, Thewalt 1893

A very detailed and spectacular figural crown lid, made of genuine pewter, rounds up the royal appearance of this stein. To the left and right are poems, relating to the story of Gambrinus: Gambrinus werde ich genannt, König von Flandern und Brabant. Ich habe aus Gerste Malz gemacht und zuerst das Bier erdacht Drum können die Brauer mit Stolz bekunden, dass ein König es war, der das Bier erfunden They name me Gambrinus, the King of Flemish and Brabant. I did make malt out of barley and (I was) the first one who thought up the beer. Therefore, the brewers can proclaim with pride that it was a king who invented the beer. HB traditionally salt-glazed beer-stein , 1 liter
Our smallest member of the "Keferloh" stein Family. At least from the 13th century beer was served in ceramic steins in Restaurants or inns. The shape is simple and straight. The first large beer hall at the Oktoberfest was equipped in 1896 by the Schottenhamel family with 400 beer steins without lids and 50 beer steins with tin lids. At the end of the 19th century, breweries discovered the possibility of using the steins as an advertising medium. The brewery logo was stamped into the mug and covered with cobalt blue. As they were hundreds of years ago, these steins are still made by hand in the traditional way. Today, as in the past, the lid made of genuine pewter protects the cool drink from dust or insects. Tip: Cool the mug in the refrigerator before use This way the mug will keep the beer cool and fresh much longer. Content: 1 Liter
Loreley Stein 0.5 Ltr., stone-grey, Thewalt 1893
The Loreley is an approx. 450 feet tall steep slate rock on the right river bank of the Rhine River at Sankt Goarshausen and it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name comes from the old Rhine dialect word "lureln" (murmuring) and the Celtic word "ley" (rock). The heavy currents of the Rhine as well as a small waterfall created a murming sound. This sound, combined with the echo produced by the rock gave this place its name. The Rhine's strong current, combined with the dangerous rocks hidden under the river's surface caused lots of boat accidents. About 200 years ago,Heinrich Heine composed a poem based on the tale about the Loreley. It describes the most beautiful young lady, sitting on the cliff above the Rhine, combing her beautiful golden hair, distracting the shipmen with her beauty and her singing, causing them to crash on the rocks. This stein shows in deep relief the beauty sitting on the rock looking down the Rhine to the left. To her right, the beginning of the Heine poem has been carved into the stein. Roughly translated, the poem goes: I don't know what it means That I am so sad A legend of bygone days That I cannot keep out of my mind. The air is cool and night is coming. The calm Rhine courses its way. The peak of the mountain dazzles With evening's final ray. The fairest of maidens is sitting Up there, a beautiful delight, Her golden jewels are shining, She's combing her golden hair. She holds a golden comb, Singing along, as well An enthralling And spellbinding melody. In his little boat, the boatman Is seized by it with a savage woe. He does not look upon the rocky ledge But rather high up into the heavens. I think that the waves will devour The boatman and boat in the end And this by her song's sheer power Fair Loreley has done. Handcrafted in the old German grey-blue style, this 3/4 liter stein stands 10 1/2 inches tall and is a limited edition of just 2,500 pieces worldwide. Each stein is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

30 Years German Unity Stein
Product Information 30 years ago -just one year after the Berlin Wall came down- the former East Germany and West Germany became ONE Germany THE REUNITED NATION OF GERMANY. The Reunification was a process in 1990. Its end is officially referred to as the German Unity (The Deutsche Einheit), celebrated since then each year on October 3rd. The East German government started to falter in 1989, after the removal of Hungary's border fence with Austria opened a hole in the Iron Curtain. It caused an exodus of East Germans, fleeing to West Germany via Hungary and Austria. At the same time, in East Germany itself, people took all their courage and started to demonstrate on the streets, not knowing how their socialist government would respond. Every Monday night, they convened in city centers, sending a clear message to their government and the world by exlaiming "Wir sind ein Volk". (We are one Nation). The crowds grew substantially every Monday and the calls for unity and freedom got louder every time. In honor of the courage of thousands of Germans who tireless marched the streets every Monday, King Werk, Wuerfel & Mueller has incorporated this call for unity on that stein. On the opposite side, the script band says "Deutschland, einig Vaterland" (Germany, united Fatherland). The center of the stein shows the map of the New Germany indicating the former border line, also referred to as "the death strip". The deep relief, hand painted German Eagle - symbol for strength and steadiness - is the center piece of this stein, also symbolizing that these virtues did make Germany whole again. Also, the deep relief oak ornaments are standing for pride, strength, loyalty, firmenss and perpetuity. The coat of arms of each individual state of the Federal Republic of Germany are spread over the stein. Since Germany has become one, the crests are randomly positioned on the stein, symbolizing that Germany has become one nation again, without making any difference between east and west. In gratitude to the continuos support of former Western Germany by the United States, the text "Wiedervereinigung / Reunification" has been applied in deep relief in English and German on that stein. Another highlight is the pewter lid of this must-have stein, symbolizing the fall of the Iron Curtain and the United Germany: Behind an original piece of the Berlin wall, the German eagle rises like phoenix from the ashes. Original German Wall piece on lid, Hand-painted Limited to 1,000 pieces. Content: 0.75 Liter Height: 11 4/5"
30th Anniversary Fall of the Berlin Wall Stein
For almost 30 years, The Wall was a 12 feet tall concrete barrier that divided Berlin not just physically but ideologically as well. The Wall cut off West Berlin from surrounding GDR (German Democratic Republic), including East Berlin. While the GDR and the Eastern Block referred to the Berlin Wall as the "Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart", the West called it the "Wall of Shame". From 1961 until 1989, the Berlin Wall prevented almost all attempts of emigration. Over 100.000 people tried to escape. Only about 5.000 succeded. For people from West Berlin it was possible to get close to the wall so that "there side" got totally covered with graffity art. For East Germans, a so-called "death-strip" prevented getting close to the wall. In 1989, a serious of revolutions in nearby European countries caused a chain reaction in Eastern Germany. After weeks of demonstrations and civil unrest, the East German Government announced on Nov. 09. 1989 that all GDR citizens could visit West Berlin as well as West Germany. Crowds of East and West Germans climbed onto the Wall, celebrating this moment of freedom. Euphoric people and souvenir hunters chipped away parts of the wall. Not only does this stein show buildings which all played a role during the Cold War it shows the Berlin Coat of Arms in Front of the Brandenburg Gate. The historical date of November 9th, 1989 has been in-sized into the stein plus it also shows the perspective that everyone now had: That Berlin would become the capitol of the re-united Germany again (BERLIN Hauptstadt von Deutschland). This stein does not just close with a pewter lid. There has been an ORIGINAL piece of Berlin Wall mounted on the lid. We shall make sure that we will apply a chunk with some graffity paint on the stein. Angler Stein, 0,5 Liter, rustic, hand-painted with genuine pewter lid
Many things in life are a matter of perspective. The motif of this handmade beer mug is an angler with the catch of his life. On the stein, the fish appears larger than the Angler himself. This may appear so by the position of the viewer, or because the fish got larger and larger over time in the memory of the angler. The fish wriggles and fights with all his strength and is an equal opponent to the Angler. Trees, river flora as well as a angler’s lodge are shown in deep, hand-painted relief on this stein. The top and bottom relief bands show stylized fish motifs, running around he stein’s body. A beautiful lid, cast out of real pewter completes this beautiful piece.
