Product information "German Purity Law Stein 1 L, cobalt, hand-painted, pewter figurine "brewer""

It’s the foam-topped pride of a beer-loving nation:

The German Reinheitsgebot, or purity law, which is the world’s oldest food safety law still in existence, is now more than 500 years old.

The statute limits German beer brewers to just four ingredients: malt, hops, yeast and water.

The original 1516 Bavarian law governed that the only ingredients allowed were malt (germinated, dried barley), hops and water. The properties of yeast were unknown at the time, but it was later allowed, as was wheat, which was initially reserved for baking bread.

Even the variety of brewing materials is not manifold, the 1,350+ German breweries do produce more than 6,000 different beers. Just try a couple of various German beers and you will taste the difference. And since around 400 million gallons of beer are exported from Germany all over the world, you might be able to find a few German brews at your place as well.

Like the Reinheitsgebot, steins did fulfill a hygienic purpose (to keep the beer cool (=fresh) and clean).

Therefore it was out of question that we at KING Werk had to create a very special collector piece at the law’s 500th anniversary in honor to the brewing craftsmenship.

The two panels to each side of the handle show German brewers, doing their “miraculous work” by turning water into beer.

The front panel shows

  • the profile of Duke Wilhelm IV of Bavaria who established and enforced the German Reinheitsgebot and
  • the most important text part of the purity law which translates more or less to “”We also insist, that in our cities, markets, and on the countryside for (making) any beer nothing else must be used than barley, hops and water”.

Crafted with pride by our most skilled artists at King-Werk, this stein is a perfect decoration for your home PLUS a great drinking vessel for enjoying a cold brew.

If you haven’t already started collecting stein, then this shall be a great piece to start with. Standing almost 12 inches tall, having lots of relief work as well as hand-painting plus being crowned with a lid made of genuine pewter. On top of this, a brewer figurine made of solid pewter has been cast and soldered onto the lid. So there are many reasons to get this stein.

Limited to 500 pieces world-wide, being individually numbered, each stein comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Better hurry and get your piece – As there are only limited quantities available.
