King Stein 0.75 ltr., cobalt, hand-painted, with crown pewter lid, Thewalt 1893

his stein is a replica of an medieval original, depicting the German Emperor Charles V. "C" stands for Carolus and "K" for Kaiser (German word for Emperor). On Sept. 15, 1556 Emperor Karl stepped down from his throne and diveded is heritage amoung his son Philipp II and his brother Ferdinand I. On the stein, Karl V is flanked by his knights. On the left side, near the handle, his son Philipp II and on the opposit side Ferdinand I are shown. All three of them wear crowns. Karl V was the emperor on who's territory the "sun would never set", which included almost all of central Europe including Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy. In addition, during his reigh, Hernan Cortes and Francisco Pizarro conquered Mexico and peru. Karl's goal was to spread Christianity within an unified country under his reign. The original mould was developed by Peter Duemmler (18960-1907), one of the most famous artists and sculptors of his time. King Werk is proud being allowed to continue the making of this stein. Each stein is handcrafted in the old traditional way, using finest clay from the Westerwald area. Limited Edition of just 2,500 pieces worldwide. Each stein is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
