Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (may 1892 - April 1918), also widely known as the Red Baron, was a German fighter pilot during WWI. He became famous for his bravery but also the unmatched skill he had for flying with his Fokker DR. 1 triple-decker plane into combat. Von Richthofen painted his aircraft red and this combined with his title led to him beeing called "The Red Baron". Being officially credited with 80 air combat victories, he was feared but also highly respected even by his enemies. The Red Baron was shot down and died near Amiens on April 21, 1918. He was regarded with great respect and received a full military funeral, conducted by the personell of No. 3 Squadron Aiustralian Flying Corps. Six of No. 2 Squadron officers served as pallbearers and a guard of honor from the squadron's other ranks fired a salute. On the stein von Richthofen wears the Pour le Mérite, the "Blue Max", Prussia's highest military order. This 9" tall stein has been entirely hand-crafted and hand-painted at King-Werk in Germany. Limited Edition of 2,500 pieces only. Each stein bears its individual series number and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
